James 10/03/2013 New song She Looks Like The Real Thing is finished (pending mastering) and now available to listen to here. All the best James 23/04/2012 Backed with What Happened To The Post-Recession Dream and (In Soviet Russia) Song Listen To You, we think it's the best thing we've done so far.
We hope you like it.

The Meek will be convening for their first recordings of 2012 on Friday 3rd February (the day of Buddy Holly's, and later Joe Meek's, death).
These recordings will include the b-sides for forthcoming single "I'm In Love With My Bed", entitled "(In Soviet Russia) Song Listen To You" and "What Happened To The Post-Recession Dream?".
Don't give up, we'll be in touch.
James
01/11/2011 I'm In Love With My Bed has been made available as a one-track charity single for £1.
50% of the proceeds will go to the Poppy Appeal and 50% will go to The Prostate Cancer Charity (for Movember). Please donate a quid and help out those who suffered and are suffering.
This will remain a charity single for all of November.
Cheers.
James

Finally completed, you may now hear Number 49.

13/03/11 Updates. Firstly, please don't take The Meek's songs as completed for the time being. They will, in due course, be shipped off to world famous Abbey Road Studios for mastering. So that's exciting.
Secondly, No Words is, prior to proper mastering, complete and can be found here.
Thirdly, to mark the 2 year anniversary of the event that necessitated The Angry Facebook Song, the follow-up song "When You Walk Past My House (Sometimes)" has been released to the internet and can be found here.
Keep on winning.
James
25/12/10 Merry Christmas everyone. Here's a Christmas Gift from The Meek.
It's Christmastime at last!
James
21/09/10 Why not have a good old read of The Meek's biography? Newly added and fully up to date. Also it has pictures. James 30/08/10 Well, it's out there. Many thanks to those great guys at DittoMusic who managed to get it onto iTunes so very quickly. Find it here, write a review, tell your friends. James 26/08/10 Remember when I said all singles should be released on a Sunday? I lied. The Meek's second single, Sterling Sky (40SEC002) will be released on Monday 30th August 2010. It will be first available on The Meek's BandCamp page for streaming and purchase. Then Spotify for streaming and playlisting. Finally it will make it's way to iTunes for worldwide distribution and scrutiny. Autumn's memory of summer is coming soon. James 26/07/10 Sterling Sky is finished. Second's Best Theme is as old as the hills and will be b-side number 1. B-side number 2 is close to completion.
New single imminent.
James
22/07/10 A b-side for Sterling Sky was recorded this evening in Lewis's back room. Alex Donoghue played 6-string acoustic guitar.
Here are some photos.
Lewis listening back to a take.
Alex regarding Lewis's frown.
The floor. Jammed with stuff.
James 14/07/10 Lyrics can now be found and read on the Words page. 10/06/10 No Words has been pulled off the downloads page and the BandCamp page. It needs to be re-recorded. This time I promise we'll get it right. Look out for the old version as a bonus track or b-side or something else which hilights it's insignificance. Probably to be labelled "No Words (Alan Smithee Version)". James 12/05/10 Meek badges have been made featuring Rob Dennehy and James Marshall's "The Meek" logo.
Design below. If you want one, e-mail James.

05/05/10 The artwork for Sterling Sky has been finalised and the track is nearly complete too. Keep your eyes peeled on iTunes and Spotify for this beautiful image, starring Nick Burman and photographed and edited by Rob Dennehy. James 25/04/10 After a confusing argument with the guitar shop on Denmark Street (who initially refused to cancel the order... get your head round that), I finally found a fantastic shop called Holiday out in Rochford, Essex (which I can't recommend highly enough). From which I bought the amp I've been waiting for since the beginning of recorded time (or so it feels). It is a Vox VT-50 and it is awesome. Recording of the album can now continue.
Here it is gracefully accepting amp duties from its predecessor:

The 8 year old Fender amp (pictured below) rather unceremoniously died the other night. Work on Sterling Sky has had to cease until the new amp (on order) arrives. Fender Frontman 38W 2002-2010 James 13/04/10 Work on Sterling Sky began last night. ![]() James 12/04/10 Voting for Storm The Charts has now begun. Please follow this link to vote for The Meek's I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine to be chosen as one of the 40 tracks eligible to make the singles chart this summer.
I'll change the link as polls change.
Many thanks
The Meek
08/04/10 Don't forget to keep an eye on the band blogs, which are being regularly updated by Rob and James. Rob's blog, Asterism, and James' blog, Nowhere To Fly To, can be found here and here, respectively. James 04/04/10 The Meek now have a BandCamp page where you can hear the album tracks ahead of their release.
You can even download them, if you like.
If you don't have iTunes for any reason, you can buy I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine there too.

30/03/10 Yesterday was a very productive day. Got 4 drum tracks down with Rob. Brilliant beats perfectly executed and this time not covered in all manner of hiss and mic noise. Sterling Sky, She Looks Like The Real Thing, Number 49 and Fenchurch Street are now ready for construction. I'll be in touch. James 25/03/10 The Meek are participating in Storm The Charts 2010.
Storm The Charts - The most ambitious chart campaign on Facebook.
This is a chart campaign that ISN'T about another old song by a famous artist, or about getting a song to number one. I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine is listed here http://stormthecharts.livejournal.com as entry number 405. It is also available on the following playlists: http://bit.ly/stormmyspace04 http://bit.ly/stormyoutube http://bit.ly/stormspotify I'll keep you informed on when voting will open, so please keep your eyes open and vote for the track when it comes available and help The Meek make the UK top 40 singles chart. Storm The Charts are raising money alongside the campaign for the EDGE program for Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered creatures. Please give £2 if you can at http://justgiving.com/chartstorm . You can read more about what EDGE do at http://www.edgeofexistence.org/edgeblog/ - it essentially involves saving exceptionally unusual animals from extinction. More than £500 has already been donated by our membership - you can list your band name or anything you like as the donor on the page, people do watch it. James 21/03/10 The newly mixed versions of No Words (which took a bastard ice age) and Pull Me Apart (now with mellotron!) are available on the Downloads page.
James 14/03/10 One half of the album is complete. Tracks 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11 & 12 are done.
The majority of which can now be downloaded from the new Downloads page.
However, there is currently no material on which to base the recordings for the remaining half.
Fifty percent of the canvas is completely blank.
When Blur were our age they were on the TV. When Nick Drake was our age he was on his second album.
We take our time.

As promised, there is now a fairly comprehensive article detailing the members of the band. Take a look at it in the "Introducting The Band" section. James 19/02/10 And for those of you who don't understand this "Spotify" word, you can now buy The Meek on iTunes. Debut single, I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine/The Angry Facebook Song is now available on iTunes for a mere £1.58. It's official release date was 31st December 2009, making it surely the last single to be released in the decade. Don't forget to write a review and rate your purchase. 31/01/10
All singles should be released on a Sunday. It's a truth widely acknowledged but never spoken of out loud.
So here it is. The Meek's debut single. I Want To Live In A Dream In My Record Machine/The Angry Facebook Song (40SEC001)
James 29/01/10 Subcutaneous Lovesick Blue is done.
Here it is.

Drums for all but 3 of the tracks have been recorded. Setting to work on making them sound like drums and not a drunk history student building a shed wearing a tin foil suit. Rob was paid in wine and Lewis was paid in cider and embarrasment. Just realised theres no biog so you havent got a fucking clue who Rob and Lewis are. Will work on that. Incase we don't see you, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (and a continued happy life, don't just stop after the year) James 03/12/09 In the interests of making my life a whole lot nicer, I'm not going to even try to figure out how to get mp3s here. So instead the original plan to make a video for every song will go ahead and all the YouTube links will go here. As it is, the first video isn't even finished yet so this explaination has been, on the whole, pointless. James 02/12/09 Page under construction. Meanwhile, this dead horse...
